Standing with Makhadzi: A Message of Support After Her Car Accident

Award-winning South African music icon Makhadzi Whose real name Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona , is currently recovering after being involved in a car accident on New Year’s Eve, 31 December 2025.

According to verified South African media reports, Makhadzi was travelling from Limpopo to Gauteng where she was scheduled to perform at the City of Tshwane End of Year Crossover Festival hosted at Fountains Valley in Pretoria. The accident occurred while she was en route to the highly anticipated performance.

Her management confirmed that the artist was taken to hospital and is receiving medical care. She is reported to be in a stable condition and under close medical observation. The family and management have requested privacy during this difficult period.

This unfortunate incident came shortly after Makhadzi delivered a powerful performance at King Monada’s much-talked-about event, which sparked online debate due to the inclusion of an animated Medusa-style character. Despite the controversy surrounding that event, Makhadzi continued to demonstrate professionalism and dedication to her craft by honouring her performance commitments

Following news of the accident, an outpouring of support flooded social media platforms, with fans, fellow artists, and public institutions sending messages of love and encouragement. The City of Tshwane also extended well wishes, expressing hope for her speedy recovery.

Makhadzi, born Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most influential artists. Her journey from Limpopo to international stages has inspired many, particularly young artists from rural communities.

As THE Venrap MusiQ community, we stand in solidarity with Makhadzi and her loved ones. We wish her strength, healing, and a full recovery. May she return to the stage when ready, stronger than ever.
